Without Credibility You Ain’t Nothin’ Honey

People don’t know who you are so for them to establish some sort of trust or worthiness they always go back to the one question we new entrepreneurs hate:  So how much money you making?

Don’t curse them, I am just as guilty when someone is trying to sell me something.  You probably are too.  But what else is there to go on?  No one knows you.  What have you done?  As far as they know, and rightly so, you are the next big scammer to drift in to town.

The reason for the question is you forgot to establish credibility for yourself.  They have nothing that they can check you out on.  It could be things like:

• where are you from, interesting family history or a family name known for…that you could use
• who do you associate with, use them for leverage if it is positive
• what big charity events do you support-make sure your brand or logo is very present or ask to give a short speech
• what organizations do you belong to – leverage their good name
• is your ‘story’ about yourself verifiable,
• do you have verifiable and reliable studies to back up your claims for your service/product
• do you have testimonies (honest-not from fiverr) from real people that use your service/product
• do you do what you say you are going to do and people can back you up on it
• have you authored a book, articles you have written and published
• have you established a track record or always do…… in whatever it is you do?
• have you been interviewed,
• done a few speaking engagements
• put yourself on cable-local TV, radio, newspaper
• made videos with you in them discussing your system/product and then syndicate it
• have you established a brand and logo for yourself
• are you contactable-is your phone, email, letters, test answered in a timely matter and with courtesy
• do you exhibit good behaviour in public and in social media (no Mel Gibson blunders)
• known or established coaches, mentors or references who can speak for your integrity and personal growth

These few things will get you started in building your credibility.  It won’t happen overnight, it will take several months to the rest of your life.  But what you are basically doing is raising awareness about yourself.  Start this first before you work on your product or downline.  This is business and reputation is all you got.  People want to trust people.

Once you’ve got your brand going on strong you can do like Dan Kennedy and Donald Trump in using credibility.  But, that may not always be the best way and definitely not for newcomers to the credibility game.  Remember Obama?  Okay, I know your trying to forget him but he was a relative nobody and look what he did with using the power of association.  He fulfilled his dream of becoming the next president of the U.S.  He used a lot of social media.

One thing you need to decide before you start your own little business is do you really want a business?  Are you really serious about it?  Or are you full of hot air?  Do you really want to be successful or just talk about it.  Because to continue building your business you will have to have success by association to other successful entrepreneurs who are driven to succeed.  You will build on each other and help each other.

You don’t need to do the entire list above all at once, but review and start to implement things into your program.  Do what you know you can do and maintain – don’t be sporatic.   Remember people buy from people they trust and like.

How To Use HTML Meta Tags

Want to get a top ranking in search engines? No problem! All you need to do is add a few magical “meta tags” to your web pages, and you’ll skyrocket to the top of the listings.

If only it were so easy. Let’s make it clear:

Meta tags are not a magic solution.
Meta tags are not a magic solution.
Meta tags are not a magic solution.

Meta tags have never been a guaranteed way to gain a top ranking on crawler-based search engines. Today, the most valuable feature they offer the web site owner is the ability to control to some degree how their web pages are described by some search engines. They also offer the ability to prevent pages from being indexed at all. This page explores these and other meta tag-related features in more depth.
Meta Tag Overview

What are meta tags? They are information inserted into the “head” area of your web pages. Other than the title tag (explained below), information in the head area of your web pages is not seen by those viewing your pages in browsers. Instead, meta information in this area is used to communicate information that a human visitor may not be concerned with. Meta tags, for example, can tell a browser what “character set” to use or whether a web page has self-rated itself in terms of adult content.

Let’s see two common types of meta tags, then we’ll discuss exactly how they are used in more depth:

Meta-example

In the example above, you can see the beginning of the page’s “head” area as noted by the tag — it ends at the portion shown as .

Meta tags go in between the “opening” and “closing” HEAD tags. Shown in the example is a TITLE tag, then a META DESCRIPTION tag, then a META KEYWORDS tag. Let’s talk about what these do.

The Title Tag

The HTML title tag isn’t really a meta tag, but it’s worth discussing in relation to them. Whatever text you place in the title tag (between the portions as shown in the example) will appear in the reverse bar of someone’s browser when they view the web page. For instance, within the title tag of this page that you are reading is this text:

If you look at the reverse bar in your browser, then you should see that text being used, similar to this:

Some browsers also supplement whatever you put in the title tag by adding their own name, as you can see Microsoft’s Internet Explorer doing in the picture above.

The title tag is also used as the words to describe your page when someone adds it to their “Favorites” or “Bookmarks” lists. For instance, if you added this page to your Favorites in Internet Explorer, it would show up like this:

But what about search engines! The title tag is crucial for them. The text you use in the title tag is one of the most important factors in how a search engine may decide to rank your web page (see the Search Engine Placement Tips section for more details). In addition, all major crawlers will use the text of your title tag as the text they use for the title of your page in your listings.

For example, this is how Teoma lists the page you are reading:

You can see that the text “How To Use HTML Meta Tags” is used as the hyperlinked title of this page’s listed in Teoma’s results.

In review, think about the key terms you’d like your page to be found for in crawler-based search engines, then incorporate those terms into your title tag in a short, descriptive fashion. That text will then be used as your title in crawler-based search engines, as well as the title in bookmarks and in browser reverse bars.
The Meta Description Tag

The meta description tag allows you to influence the description of your page in the crawlers that support the tag (these are listed on the Search Engine Features page).

Look back at the example of a meta tag. See the first meta tag shown, the one that says “name=description”? That’s the meta description tag. The text you want to be shown as your description goes between the quotation marks after the “content=” portion of the tag (generally, 200 to 250 characters may be indexed, though only a smaller portion of this amount may be displayed).

For this page you are reading, I would like it described in a search engine’s listings like this:

This tutorial explains how to use HTML meta tags, with links
to meta tag generators and builders. From SearchEngineWatch.com,
a guide to search engine submission and registration.

Will this happen? Not with every search engine. For example, Google ignores the meta description tag and instead will automatically generate its own description for this page. Others may support it partially. For instance, let’s see again how this page is listed in Teoma:

You can see that the first portion of the page’s description comes from the meta description tag, then there’s an ellipse (.), and the remaining portion is drawn from the body copy of the page itself.

In review, it is worthwhile to use the meta description tag for your pages, because it gives you some degree of control with various crawlers. An easy way to do this often is to take the first sentence or two of body copy from your web page and use that for the meta description content.
The Meta Keywords Tag

The meta keywords tag allows you to provide additional text for crawler-based search engines to index along with your body copy. How does this help you? Well, for most major crawlers, it doesn’t. That’s because most crawlers now ignore the tag. The few supporting it can be found on the Search Engine Features page).

The meta keywords tag is sometimes useful as a way to reinforce the terms you think a page is important for ON THE FEW CRAWLERS THAT SUPPORT IT. For instance, if you had a page about stamp collecting — AND you say the words stamp collecting at various places in your body copy — then mentioning the words “stamp collecting” in the meta keywords tag MIGHT help boost your page a bit higher for those words.

Remember, if you don’t use the words “stamp collecting” on the page at all, then just adding them to the meta keywords tag is extremely unlikely to help the page do well for the term. The text in the meta keywords tag, FOR THE FEW CRAWLERS THAT SUPPORT IT, works in conjunction with the text in your body copy.

The meta keyword tag is also sometimes useful as a way to help your page come up for synonyms or unusual words that don’t appear on the page itself. For instance, let’s say you had a page all about the “Penny Black” stamp. You never actually say the word “collecting” on this page. By having the word in your meta keywords tag, then you may help increase the odds of coming up if someone searched for “penny black stamp collecting.” Of course you would greater increase the odds if you just used the word “collecting” in the body copy of the page itself.

Here’s another example. Let’s say you have a page about horseback riding, and you’ve written your page using “horseback” as a single word. You realize that some people may instead search for “horse back riding,” with “horse back” in their searches being two separate words. If you listed these words separately in your meta keywords tag, THEN MAYBE FOR THE FEW CRAWLERS THAT SUPPORT IT, your page might rank better for “horse back” riding. Sadly, the best way to ensure this would be to write your pages using both “horseback riding” and “horse back riding” in the text — or perhaps on some of your pages, use the single word version and on others, the two word version.

I’m using all these capital letters on purpose. Far too many people new to search engine optimization obsess with the meta keywords tag. FEW crawlers support it. For those that do, it MIGHT! MAYBE! PERHAPS! POSSIBLY! BUT WITH NO GUARANTEE! help improve the ranking of your page. It also may very well do nothing for your page at all. In fact, repeat a particular word too often in a meta keywords tag and you could actually harm your page’s chances of ranking well. Because of this, I strongly suggest that those new to search engine optimization not even worry about the tag at all.

Even those who are experienced in search engine optimization may decide it is no longer worth using the tags. Search Engine Watch doesn’t. Any meta keywords tags you find in the site were written in the past, when the keywords tag was more important. There’s no harm in leaving up existing tags you may have written, but going forward, writing new tags probably isn’t worth the trouble. The articles below explore this in more detail:

Still want to use the meta keywords tag? OK. Look back at the opening example. See the second meta tag shown, the one that says “name=keywords”? That’s the meta keywords tag. The keywords you want associated with your page go between the quotation marks after the “content=” portion of the tag.

Inktomi says that you should include up to 25 words or phrases, with each word or phrase separated by commas. More advice from Inktomi can be found on its Content Policy FAQ.

FYI, in the past, when the tag was supported by other search engines, they generally indexed up to 1,000 characters of text and commas were not required.
Meta Robots Tag

One other meta tag worth mentioning is the robots tag. This lets you specify that a particular page should NOT be indexed by a search engine. To keep spiders out, simply add this text between your head tags on each page you don’t want indexed. The format is shown below (click on the picture if you want to copy and past the HTML for your own use):

Meta-noindex

You do NOT need to use variations of the meta robots tag to help your pages get indexed. They are unnecessary. By default, a crawler will try to index all your web pages and will try to follow links from one page to another.

Most major search engines support the meta robots tag. However, the robots.txt convention of blocking indexing is more efficient, as you don’t need to add tags to each and every page. See the Search Engines Features page for more about the robots.txt file. If you use do a robots.txt file to block indexing, there is no need to also use meta robots tags.

The meta robots tag also has some extensions offered by particular search engines to prevent indexing of multimedia content. Other Meta Tags

There are many other meta tags that exist beyond those explored in this article. For example, if you were to view the source code of this web page, you would find “author,” “channel” and “date” meta tags. These mean nothing to web-wide crawlers such as Google. They are specifically for an internal search engine used by Search Engine Watch to index its own content.

There are also “Dublin Core” meta tags. The intent is that these can be used for both “internal” search engines and web-wide ones. However, no major web-wide search engine supports these tags. More about them can be found below:

How about the meta revisit tag? This tag is not recognized by the major search engines as a method of telling them how often to automatically return. They have never supported it.
In Conclusion

Overall, just remember this. Of all the meta tags you may see out there:

Meta Robots: This tag enjoys full support, but you only need it if you DO NOT want your pages indexed.

Meta Description: This tag enjoys much support, and it is well worth using.

Meta Keywords: This tag is only supported by some major crawlers and probably isn’t worth the time to implement.

Meta Everything Else: Any other meta tag you see is ignored by the major crawlers, though they may be used by specialized search engines.

Manage Your Funds!…am I to late?  Sorry.

If you can’t do it yourself, find someone who can.  Find advisors, team members to your business, to help you manage it and give advice.  Thinking you can do it by yourself is a fool about to be separated from his/her money.  I know, you are speaking to the biggest fool ever, and I am still trying to work my way out of the financial whole I fell in.  I swear it is a bottomless pit.

Now that I am ready to listen to the right people no one is interest in talking to me.  It’s funny the way people treat you when you crash and burn.  You are suddenly worthless.  I do know one thing worth while-don’t do what I did.

Now I have to start over from a very negative position, tough, very tough to do.  Not only tough to do but also you have next to nothing to start with.  Definitely no money, very little in assets, just a smoking blazed trail behind you from your crash.  One thing you do have lots of; people who don’t believe in you, glory in your fall and the loudest naysayers you ever heard.  Tough spot, definitely.

Don’t give up.  The only thing you have left is your brain and all the information, software and products you bought.  You got, now use it.  Your hard drive and shelves is probably full information you bought, but have yet to use.  Go use it.  Time to learn.

Internet marketing is just like any other business – you need to run it by handling your money wisely and building it step by step. Please forget about the Push Button methods that are suppose to bring you tons of cash at the push of a button.  Please, show more respect for yourself, you know that is nothing but hype.  Rome wasn’t built in a day and if you try and hurry the process, you’ll spend yourself into the poor house and your internet marketing business will become a financial obligation instead!

What’s worse is that all that software you’ve got setting on your hard drive is worthless.  So what if you paid $5,000 for it, the guru you got it from is now giving it away for free as a bonus for a JV.  Very little if any of the stuff will bring you any money at the auction as you try to sell off your business assets for cash.  Maybe your desk, chair and shelves if you bought office furniture will bring you a few bucks.  But in Internet Marketing, unless you have your own developed products, you got nothing, except maybe a book, you can write about your failure in I.M.

Some networkers, in their unrelenting pursuit to ‘go the whole way’, resign their jobs and burn their bridges in effect sealing their fate in a do or die state of affairs.  It’s easy to do when you get all wrap up in the excitement of becoming rich overnight.

This may seem like a worthy attempt, but nobody respects a internet marketing martyr who turns a loss on everything in life because he or she wasn’t a savvy business individual.  Don’t let anyone talk you into doing this.

I did and the second I did, I knew it was a mistake.  A mistake I couldn’t undo.  I say again – manage your business and personal finances – don’t let anyone talk you into doing something foolish.  I can guarantee they wont’ be there when things go wrong, won’t loan you the money to help you and will only wont to get rid of you-you’re ruining their mojo – you’re a failure.

Don’t, I repeat, don’t spend all your revenue on products , training materials and seminar tickets while mortgaging your house, refinancing your auto and selling everything that’s not nailed down.

You require revenue in order to survive and without it, you can’t take your business to the next level.

Plainly put, you can’t ‘Go Diamond’ tomorrow if you don’t have the cash to pull through today.

There are many internet marketing leaders in the industry who make their way to the top by paying their bills by their monthly commission checks…

A few of them keep their day jobs while other people use a ‘funded proposal’ system that allows them to yield cash flow even when individuals don’t want to join their business or buy their products.

Remember, internet marketing pays little at first but a few months later, only after your business is stable and growing, will you be able to achieve wealth, freedom and growth at an exponential rate!

That day will arrive, but before that materializes, you need to be realistic and endure today… otherwise, you’ll never see tomorrow.  Well, at least, not the tomorrow you want to see…

Baby Boomers…(that’s you if you’re between 42 & 60 – plus or minus a year or two) is retirement already upon you or starring you in the face?  You really want to retire and would like to travel and finally do things on your time schedule…But…the money looks like it’s gonna be a little tight so you’re thinking you’ll need to work longer or get some kind of part time work.

I tried it on my own, since the guru’s were only interested in my money not answering my questions, and made a buck or two here and there.   But for every dollar I made I lost 100x that.  And of course Murphy’s Law set in and I also lost my job while I was really deep in the hole of debt.  I was not about to give up,  I had a hard drive full of internet marketing software and PDF’s.  Somehow or other that stuff was going to make me money.  It had helped me lose money sure enough and make someone else money.

Anyhow, enough of me back to the point of all this,  I was in a forum begging for help and the moderator sent me to this guy, Chris Farrell, heard of him?  Besides the fact I’ve got him pasted all over my website.  He has a free 26 video course on what a web business is and teaches you how to build a web business.  I took it…it’s good.

I finally began to understand things.  See he just doesn’t show you the steps, he explains the steps and why things are, he’s been there, he knows the frustration.  Well after that I took (still taking-I just started a short time ago) his Understanding Facebook course and his Create Your 1st Website by 3:45 This Afternoon.

I am starting to get the idea of how to use Facebook properly.  I never really liked Facebook before as I am not normally a social person.  And I really didn’t believe all these guru’s talking about getting hundreds of thousand of friends and making thousands of dollars.  Really didn’t believe them.  Chris shows the proper way to use Facebook and the how’s and why’s not just follow these steps.

And I’ve gotten off on a tangent.  Where was I? Umn…Oh yeah.  Your retirement.  Look, you can retire, can travel, can do things on your own schedule and can have that extra money.  Chris’s courses are thorough and he’s got a support team like no other.  They Care.

I was asking so many  that I finally started apologizing every time I asked one.  I felt like I was taking up way to much of their time and was totally stupid.  They told me to stop apologizing and keep asking until I understood.  And boy does everyone do just that.  No body has to feel stupid – you don’t get it…ask it.  (sorry, talking about me again)

I suggest, no, challenge you to take his courses.  So many of them are free.  They will get you started and on your way.  His courses do take time.  And there is work involved and you will get frustrated because, good old Murphy will step and mess things up for you, but the support team will hang in there with you – don’t give up whatever you do.

I had several encounters with old Murphy making sure things just kept going wrong( for 3 #@$#$ weeks), heck it had gotten so bad I finally ended up in tears.  But I was not going quit and a wonderful and very patient  technician from Australia, bless his heart, hung in there with me (he even ended up in the hospital, but as soon as he got out he was back online with me) till I figured out what was wrong.  You can’t ask for anything more than that.  (the issue turned out to be my browser-not the training)

Am I making money right now?  No.  I started in mid July and I am just finishing his I Love Traffic course.  Another good course.  Now I just gotta go do it.  A little fear here…I could actually be successful.  Between his traffic and Facebook course- a lot of information and a lot of SEO to do.  Working on it, that’s all I gotta do.

That’s another thing I like about Chris Farrell, he tells the truth.  The money comes, but it’s not a push button thing right off the bat.  You must build your business and Chris shows you how to build a very strong foundation-correctly and with understanding of the process.

He does this so that you could be anywhere in the world (with internet) and make money.  So take his course or courses and I do recommend joining his membership site to have access to even more good stuff.  Try it for free first then join.
